Tesla Model X rival is coming! NextEV's Nio electric SUV targets to beat the model X with its affordable "toyota cost" and an electric range and cutting edge technology as good as Tesla. Does it have what it takes to beat the model X? Let us find out.

Chinese company NextEV specializing in electric vehicles has unveiled part of their plans for the future where it will eye the US market and make Tesla Model X its main target. Following the recent coming of Nio DS9, their first production vehicle, now NextEV reveals some details of their upcoming releases.

NextEV launched the Nio brand in a dramatic fashion last month with the announcement of the Nio EP9, a 1,360-hop electric vehicle that can accelerate from 0 to 100 km / h in just 2.7 seconds. But the Nio EP9 is a limited edition model and nextEV wants to focus its efforts on niche segments and more generalist market which generates more revenue and profit. This is no doubt the electric SUV segment in which Tesla Model X reigns supreme.

Jack Cheng, co - founder of NextEV, was the one who according to GreenCarReports said that its next model will be an electric SUV. This new model also will be marketed under the brand Nio that NextEV created to sell their production vehicles. This new model, which we do not know the name ter, will be unveiled late 2017 and Tesla Model X should beware.

NextEV's SUV will have a battery pack 70 kWh that will grant an electric range of 531 kilometers, figures that is better than the Tesla Model X. Not only that, Cheng also revealed that although they plan to complete with Tesla Model X, the finishes and equipment will be at the level of BMW or Audi SUV.

More importantly, the price is said to be similar to Toyota according to NDTV. This means that NextEV's SUV will be much more affordable than the Tesla Model X.

Although it is doubtful that NextEV's SUV can beat the Tesla Model X in the United States, it can be a winner in China and other markets in Asia. The new SUV will be manufactured NextEV in China thanks to an agreement they have with JAC Motors. Sales will begin in the US in late 2018.
