AAA's new pink tricks will service Chicagoland throughout the month of October and the remainder of 2012. Two pink painted trucks will help out over 1,500 AAA members and will be seen by over 10 million people during the last three months of the calendar year.
"We assist more than 25 percent of the driving public with AAA roadside assistance-and our service vehicles are seen on our nation's roadways by millions of motorists each day," said Gerry Gutowski, the Sr. Vice President of AAA Automotive Services in a press release.
AAA will also be helping to host more than 3,000 walkers expected on Oct. 20 for the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk at Montrose Harbor in Chicago. The event is sponsored by AAA and will host its own team of walkers as well to raise money for the American Cancer Society. The company will provide free roadside assistance to anyone who may have car troubles with flat tires, dead batteries of lockouts. Both of the pink tow trucks will be at the event ready to help anyone who needs assistance.
The new pink tow trucks will also service certain areas of Detroit throughout the month of October. The two pink-outfitted trucks will assist those who live and work in the area, including Downtown Detroit's busy financial, entertainment, sports and cultural districts. On Oct. 13 the company will help host 15,000 walkers for their Cancer Walk which starts at Ford Field in Downtown Detroit. Like in Chicago, trucks will be on hand and will provide free assistance to anyone who needs it, both members and nonmembers alike.
"Our hope is that these pink tow trucks will garner attention and spread awareness to help in the fight against breast cancer," said Gutowski.
AAA is also painting tow trucks pink in Orlando and will support and sponsor walks there as well. This tri-city initiative, and related courtesy services to the three Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walks, is part of AAA's commitment to community service and its newly formed partnership with the American Cancer Society.
