Jeeps are no longer exclusively deemed as typical SUVs, which has taken place in history as one of the most unloved crossovers on the highway. Now, the 2017 Jeep Compass guarantees to wipe that impression out with its new rendition --- a dead ringer for the well-known Cherokee, from its outline down to its off-road specs.
The new Jeep Compass made its debut at the 2016 Los Angeles Auto Show. It overruled the old version and the Jeep Patriot, which will be derived from Brazil. Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) also targets to fill every possible utility-vehicle position as it grasps crossovers with car-like features.
The Jeep Compass is offered in different trim levels such as Sport, Latitude, Limited, and Trailhawk. It also shows the strongest family resemblance to Jeep's Cherokee; its grille and headlights seem to be inclined by the much larger Grand Cherokee, as the rest of the Jeep lineup.
The new Compass model has a new style bearing, which does not rely to the square shape of the old Patriot or the hapless hatchback feints of its predecessor. It is tightly proportioned, angular, and has squared-off wheel openings that differ on some editions with a blacked-out roof panel. Its tailgate's slim window doesn't bode well for outward vision; its lines and LED taillights are way better than the Cherokee's flatter piece, while the glass areas are convex-like, according to The Car Connection.
It has a 2.4 liter 4-cylinder gasoline engine that produces 180 horsepower and 175 pound-feet of turn. Thanks to an engine start-stop scheme, Jeep looks forward on more specific versions of the Compass to reach 30 mpg.
Consumers in the United States can choose from three transmissions and whether it will be a front-wheel or an all-wheel drive; a 6-speed manual transmission or a 6-speed automatic will be offered on the front-wheel drive model, while a 6-speed manual option and a 9-speed automatic will be offered on the all-wheel drive model, Green Car Reports reported.
There are no announcement on its pricing yet, but the 2017 Jeep Compass goes on sale in the first half of 2017.
