The Marvel Cinematic Universe is yet to witness the wrath and abomination Thanos can bring upon the Avengers. In a tweet recently posted by Marvel Co-President Louis D'Esposito, a picture of the "Infinity Gauntlet" series by Marvel accompanied his December 1 post. Speculations about an "Infinity War" adaptation soon surfaced. In the Marvel comics, "Avengers: Infinity War" is the second series to be released, with "Infinity Gauntlet" being the first.

The Mad Titan Thanos and his unsurmountable power set his own diabolic plan to gather the Infinity Stones, place them on his titular glove, and turn the universe upside down with the might of the combined stones. In a report by Cinema Blend, "Avengers: Age of Ultron" director Joss Whedon revealed that the Marvel heroes will finally get to battle the powerful antagonist Thanos. Hints were further given that the Mad Titan might not be the only villain the Avengers will have to fight with in upcoming films.

"Avengers: Infinity War" list of presumed villains include the Abomination, an adversary that deals with the Hulk. Captain America's the Red Skull could also be revived using an Infinity Stone and deal with the mighty Captain himself. In the comics, Thanos has his lackeys in the form of alien twins called the Blood Brothers. Another known Thanos lackey who has the brains to lead an abominable army, as seen in the "Infinity War" comic series, is the Black Dwarf.

In "Guardians of the Galaxy", the Collector was frequently seen. In the "Avengers" comics, the Collector had a special relationship with Thanos himself. As hinted by the "Avengers" production team, a combined force between the "Avengers" and the cast of "Guardians of the Galaxy" is set for the 2019 film. There is also a likely appearance of Ronan with his close relationship with Thanos. Kang the Conqueror and Death are some of the Avengers' possible villains who will make an appearance in "Avengers: Infinity War".
