Sexy is the right word to describe the new Maserati electric car that is coming out by 2020. That's right. The luxury and sports car maker is also developing its own electric vehicle to satisfy the growing demand for e-vehicles today.

The Maserati Alfieri was supposed to launch in 2019. But according to the carmaker, the release will be moved to 2020, as reported on Motor Authority. The good news is, aside from the normal version, there will be an all-electric Maserati Alfieri to be released.

The Alfieri is a concept Maserati car revealed in 2014. This will also be the first Maserati electric car to be released in the market. Aside from being battery-powered, the new electric car is expected to be lighter.

The gas-powered and battery-powered Alfieri version will be released one after the other. The sexy two-seater sports car, Alfieri's older model is already out today; however, consumers are anticipating the release of its all-electric version. Before the electric car model is released, the V6 engine Alfieri will launch first in 2019.

The delay was attributed to the engineering system, which allows one to pact a battery into a two-seater sports car. This move was made by Maserati to comply with the C02 limits set, thus the release of an all-electric vehicle.

Currently, Maserati has a product renewal programme that will run until 2018. The GranTurismo and Gran Carbio will be replaced under the program, according to AutoCar. And by 2019, Maserati is expected to release a new lineup and new programme.

The replacements will be based on the sports car's architecture and design. New models are also expected to be lighter, along with a more fuel-efficient engine. The luxury car company will prioritize the monitoring of C02 emissions, as well as develop a program to decrease car emissions. Moreover, Maserati is improving its engineering systems to make an all-electric Maserati vehicle.
