The recently concluded iPhone 7 launch event didn't quite turn out to be what Apple fans expected it to be. This was primarily because the Cupertino-based tech firm did not even mention some highly anticipated devices. However, all that might be let off if latest rumors hinting that Apple is giving their iPhone a radical cosmetic overhaul next year proved to be true.
While mounting evidence suggests a major iPhone redesign could be in the offing next year, reliable sources continue to spill the beans about the company's plans for their new iPhone. According to an Apple insider, the company is prepping to debut three iPhone 8 models in two regular sizes in 2017.
The iPhone 8 will arrive in 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch models which are the same sizes the company used for their iPhone 6, iPhone 6s, and iPhone 7, according to a research note from by KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, according to Mac Rumors.
Bearing an unparalleled track record acquiring Apple's future plans, Kuo suggests that the company will employ both LCD as well as OLED screens for 2017 iPhone. The 4.7-inch iPhone 8 and 5.5-inch iPhone 8 Plus will boast LCD displays. Both, the OLED and 5.5-inch LCD iPhones will have a dual camera. However, the 4.7-inch version of the 2017 iPhone will sport a single lens primary camera, according to BGR.
Earlier this week, Barclay's analysts teased a mammoth 5.8-inches OLED model and, if proved to be true, Kuo's prediction of three specific models could turn out to be good as well as bad news.
The good news is that Apple has finally decided to take advantage of OLED and since it works without a backlight, the company could devise comparatively thinner and lighter iPhones. Current iPhones use the IPS LCD panels.
Meanwhile, the bad news alludes to further fragmentation of the iPhone line and continuously holding off the budget friendly and highly lauded 4.7-inch variant of the iPhone. In other news, Apple is likely to replace the home button from the iPhone with a fingerprint sensor under the screen next year.
