The phenomenal hit series "Stranger Things" Season 2 has been confirmed to be in production recently, adding hype and anticipation to avid fans of the show. Aside from the cast members reprising their role, director Shawn Levy has been confirmed to return as well to spearhead at least two episodes in the second installment.

During an interview with the Collider, the famed director revealed that the filming of the second installment officially began last November 7. Fans will be delighted to know that Levy and the Duffer brothers will helm "Stranger Things" Season 2. In fact, Levy confirmed that they were given a heads-up even before Netflix officially announced it.

"We were given the wink-wink, 'You guys should seriously start thinking about what you wanna have happened in Season 2' before it was announced."

To recall, the Duffer brothers, Matt and Ross, directed the first two episodes of "Stranger Things" Season 1. Levy eventually took over to create episode three titled "Holly, Jolly" and episode four called "The Body." Apparently, Levy's take over is to give the Duffer brothers a break and ample time to finish the rest of the season's second half. Levy confirmed that they plan to do the same thing for season 2.

"Yes, we are a little superstitious so just like last year, they're doing 1 and 2, I'm going in and doing 3 and 4," the director added. "So the first four are gonna kick off exactly the same as last time... I am going to start prepping right around Thanksgiving and I'll be filming my episodes through December and January."

In addition, Levy also teased about "Stranger Things" Season 3. The 48-year-old director seems optimistic about the series renewal after the second installment. In fact, he revealed that they are already "thinking ahead" of it.

"We are not gonna be caught off guard and we don't wanna be making stuff up like the day before we have to write it and make it, so we are definitely optimistic and we have started thinking ahead," Levy said.

"Stranger Things" Season 2 is expected to premiere sometime in 2017.
