Fans who eagerly embraced last year's biggest anime newcomer, "One Punch Man," have been on the edge of their seats since its first season finale last December. Although no release date for Season 2 has been announced, the rumors abound, chief among them being a potential love interest, deeper backstory and stronger enemies for the show's titular hero, Saitama/One Punch Man.

Speculation about Saitama's enemies in the new episodes was sparked even before Season 2 was given the go-signal last August, but have since continued to grow. Ecumenical News reported that One Punch Man may no longer be able to use his signature power, the single knockout punch for which he is named, to defeat the more foreboding, powerful new antagonists.

One of his biggest adversaries in Season 2 may be Garou, according to HNGN, and the two may engage in an epic first fight early in the season. This would be a break from the usual, as both Saitama and Garou are humans who were not born with magical powers.

Fans who identify as romantics may also be in for a treat: There is a reason to believe that not only will finding love fit into Saitama's Season 2 narrative, but an entire love triangle involving the superhero may also be brewing.

But as his personal life heats up, Saitama will allegedly grow weary of the grittier side of his life, losing interest in his power. This will lead him on a trail of self-discovery to uncover the roots of his powerful punch, ultimately taking fans on a journey back to his incredible backstory.

Saitama was once an average joe until a moment of great courage, rescuing a kid from monsters, changed everything. He kept training afterward, becoming the iconic hero presented in Season 1 based on the manga created by Yuusuke Murata.

Although the series is still in production, excited fans are hoping it will be released in early 2017.
