The 2017 Renault ZOE was launched last Sept. 29, 2016, during the Paris Auto Show. The French car maker caught everyone by surprised when they announced that their 2017 EV edition will be available immediately. By the start of November, the French EV will already be available in the UK.

Let's take a look at two of the EVs currently available in the market. This is a no fuss comparison, which focuses on the basics.

How much is the 2017 Renault ZOE compared to the 2016 Chevy Bolt's price?

The Renault ZOE's price starts from £ 17,995 or around $21,820 and can go as high as £22,795 or $27,960. On the other hand, the current Chevy Bolt edition's base price starts at $37,495, according to General Motors.

The 2016 Chevy Bolt has a battery pack with a 60 kWh capacity, which allows an estimated 238 miles (EPA rated) once fully charged.

Renault's wide ZOE claims on its website a 250-mile (NEDC) range also based on a full charge. It has a new Z.E 40 kWh battery pack. ZOE has also provided "real-life" estimates. In their website expect around 124 to 186 in one single charge.

How long does it take to charge the ZOE vs Bolt?

The ZOE comes with a free "Wall-Box* for charging. The actual charge time varies from 7.5 hours to 25 hours, depending on the battery and engine.

ZOE's R90 takes almost an hour and a half to acquire an 80% charge on a 43 kWh battery. Whereas, the quick-charge type the Q90 can take an hour and five minutes for a charge of 80%. Chevy's Bolt claims it takes 9.5-hour s to fully replenish a drained battery. A one hour charge allows 25 miles of range.

How much does it cost to charge an electric car?

Standard date on electricity cost in EV charging remains to be explored. However, current EV owners have exchanged self-computations online. There were examples given. Like, assume electricity would be twelve cents per kilowatt hours. That would mean around $3.48 for up to a hundred miles.
