Earlier this month, a filing of a trademark from the Japanese car company confirmed that there will be an upcoming Toyota Off Road SUV coming to the automobile market soon. With the name "Toyota FT-4X," when will the vehicle be furnished and ready for purchase?

The FT Concepts

The FT concept has been taken into consideration by Toyota Motors for several of its models. With that said, the car company has filed for a trademark concept of an incoming Toyota Off Road SUV that would be inspired by the FT-86 and the FT-1 concepts.

The vehicle will be an off-roader that would serve as the first ever model of the company to have the FT attached to its model name, according to Auto Blog. In fact, only their two-door sports cars were labeled with an FT and this new development hinted that the car company is cooking up something powerful for their future models as well.

It was also predetermined that the Toyota Off Road SUV would remain in the market for a long gestation period as the Toyota Supra would be under works by the time it would enter the market. With that, the production version of the FT-4X was said to be coming sooner than expected.

Market Competition

In other news, the model would likewise have a four-wheel-drive feature that could possibly replace the prevailing FJ Cruiser which had been absent from the U.S. market since 2014, according to Off-Road. Since the company has ceased the production of the FJ Cruiser since August this year and discontinued the sale of which in the U.S., Toyota Motors could be selling such in other markets while the upcoming SUV would be the replacement of such.

Since the trademark filing was done last Oct. 10, 2016, the Toyota Off Road SUV was said to be at its early stages in development. Furthermore, it was said to be the flagship model to go against the Ford Bronco and the Jeep Wrangler in the automobile market by the time it releases.
