Tesla Model 3s Being Doled Out By Seattle Firm To Future Employees

The Tesla Model 3 is fast turning out to be the preferred item for companies to offer as perks to the most deserving employees. Case in point, body camera maker Axon has announced there will be a spanking new Model 3 for the taking for each of its new recruits that remain loyal to the company for at least 90 days, Electrek reported.

However, there lies a twist in the tale given that the Model 3 is not slated to enter production lines before end-2017. And there already is about 400k who is on the waiting list and would no doubt be the first to be served the initial Model 3 cars produced.

Given those expensive timelines, the Axon employees who qualify for a free Model 3 will have to wait at least around end-2018 to be able to claim their Model 3; more so since the reservations would be made three months into their new job.

Of course, the relatively affordable price tag of around $35,000 of the Model 3 has only made it easier for the companies to use the sedan as a bait to lure more employees. The extended waiting period, in turn, could be a tacit ploy to ensure the workers would remain attached much longer than the initially advertised.

Also, not to leave existing Axon employees pissed off with the Model 3 offer, the company stated anyone who can refer three employees to the company is also eligible for the free Tesla sedan.

The company currently has around 100 employees on its rolls and is eager to add another 50 percent by next year. However, with more and more companies opening shop in Seattle hoping to tap into the rich tech talent pool in the region, it's increasingly becoming difficult for companies to hire the best in the business, or to retain them for long enough to let the company make good on it.

Earlier, Practichem, a Raleigh-based start-up that specialises in manufacturing scientific instruments had announced there will be a Model 3 for the taking for each of its employees.
