Audi R8 V10 Plus Review: All The Power And Luxury Of A Flagship Supercar, For A Price

The new 2017 Audi R8 V10 Plus Quattro supercar is here and it is already setting the tracks on fire with its scintillating performance.

That, in turn, can be attributed to the massive 5.2-liter V10 engine that comes with it. It is a naturally aspirated engine, which means no turbo chargers are in place to force feed the engine to up the power rating. Still, the engine impresses with its 610 hp capability, enough to propel the supercar to 60 mph from rest in 3.2 secs flat before maxing out at 205 mph.

That is not all as there also is the V10 Plus that is tuned all the more for outright performance. It has a higher power rating of 610 horses and 413 lb-ft of torque from the same engine but with a different state of tune. That combined to the 110 pounds of less weight to lug around, the V10 Plus ups the stakes in the performance rating all the more, USA Today stated.

Apart from more power and lesser weight, other notable inclusions in the V10 Plus package include ceramic brakes, lightweight suspension, racing seats along with carbon fiber trims and pieces. The V10 Plus also commands an eye popping $201,500 price tag, substantially more than the $189,900 that the base model commands. Both the prices mentioned exclude destination charges.

The R8 also sports massive proportions with its 14.3 feet dimension. That said, driving one is surprisingly easy given its superbly balanced chassis which makes pushing the supercar around corners a dream.

Audi, meanwhile, also stated other R8 variants are also in the making, which includes a roadster along with perhaps an electric version as well. There is also a cheaper variant in the making, one that will come powered by the V6 power plant of the new Panamera, AutoCar reported. The same 2.9-litre twin-turbo V6 in the Panamera is good for 440 hp and 405 lb.-ft. of torque though those figures undoubtedly will see further improvement once its adapted for the R8.
