After nine years, the convicts will be back on screen as writers of the series revealed there's little time left before the start of "Prison Break" season five. With Michael alive and Lincoln gathering the squad up to break him out, the series captured the interest of many.

Since 2009, the series put an end to the story of two brothers who would do anything for each other after it was revealed that Michael Scofield died. However, recent synopsis for the series revealed that in "Prison Break" season 5, Lincoln Scofield discovered that his brother is alive and well in a Yemeni prison.

According to iDigital Times, the series will bring back the original cast. Wentworth Miller comes back as Michael Scofield, Dominic Purcell as Lincoln Scofield, Sarah Wayne Callies as Dr. Sara Tancredi, Amaury Nolasco as Sucre, Robert Knepper as T-Bag, and Rockmond Dunbar as C-Note, among others.

For "Prison Break" season five, Lincoln will round up T-Bag, C-Note, and Sucre to help him break Michael out of the prison. However, their challengers would be more than breaking Michael out as he would be caught up with the ISIS and his brother and mates aim to overthrow the government as part of their mission.

In other news, Melty reported that the series has twenty times more audience engagement compared to other upcoming series for 2017. In fact, it was revealed that since it had been eight years since it graced the screen, they have earned the interest of young ones as well, especially viewers who were too young to appreciate the series then. The writers also attested that there may be a season six due to the amount of attention "Prison Break" five is getting.

"Prison Break" season five will air on Fox in early 2017. Despite the absence of an official reveal of the exact release date, the writers said that they first episode of the show would be shown before April of next year.
