Chevrolet Cavalier Released In China; Price and Features Here

Sep 05, 2016 07:31 PM EDT | Eve C.

The new Chevrolet Cavalier is now available in the Chinese Market. This all-drive sedan will start rolling out on the streets of China for only 79,900 yuan to 109,900 yuan ($11,950 - 16,430).

Basically, the latest Chevrolet Cavalier is derived from the platform of the last generation Chevrolet Cruze, according to Forbes. The model is positioned just above the Chevrolet Sail and just below the current Chevrolet Cruze, and would compete directly against the Citroen c-Elysee, Honda Greiz, and Volkswagen Jetta.

As for the vehicle, the car is a front-wheel drive powered by a 1.5-liter four-cylinder petrol engine with 113 hp and 141 Nm, mated to a five-speed manual or a six-speed automatic. Shanghai GM manufactures and owns the right to the Chevrolet Cavalier.

The new Chevrolet Cavalier has been launched on the Chinese car market during the 2016 Chengdu Auto Show in southwestern China. With this, foreign automakers see this as an advantage of higher earnings in the region.

First, they don't have to pay fees for the platform and IP rights anymore. Also, it is speculated that the car dealership will gain more sales because the Chevrolet Cavalier is cheap and convenient.

On the other hand, Edmunds noted that the Chevrolet Cavalier has been commended for its features which are listed down below:

  • Trim levels offered base, LS, and Z24 but later changed the lineup to the base model, the LS, and the LS Sport.
  • Air-conditioning and an AM/FM stereo.
  • A new 2.2-liter, DOHC, 16-valve, "Ecotec" four-cylinder engine
  • XM Satellite Radio with CD and MP3 playback capability.

It looks like the new Chevrolet Cavalier will be more prominent in the car industry, especially now that it is available in China. Catch the latest updates about cars here at Auto World News
