President Barack Obama's Popularity Is At Its Peak Despite End Of Term

The popularity is President Barack Obama was at its peak at the first part of his presidency.

The approval rating is at an average of 47% throughout the span of his presidency. The lowest average ratings percentage was at 40%.

Obama's percentage was higher than George W. Bush's rating at the same point of their presidency. However, this is lower when compared to Bill Clinton and Ronald Reagan's approval ratings during the same points.

Promises in Campaigns

PolitiFact, a website that checks for  facts and run by Tampa Bay Time reporters have tracked more than 500 promises that are made in the 2008 and 2012 Obama campaigns.

Obameter is the name of its tracking program, and according to it, 240 promises are kept and 6% is still being worked on.

Affordable Care Act

The 2010 signature legislation of the president's Affordable Car Act has been very popular. It is widely known as the Obamacare.

The number of Americans with health insurance plans has increased by 7% since 2009. The peak of its increase was on Jan. 1, 2014.

This was when the major provisions of the Affordable Care Act was enacted.

Unemployment

The first term of Obama was laden with unemployment problems. This was because of the devastating economic collapse that happened in 2008.

It has reached a peak of 10% unemployment level by October 2009. It was slowly recovering through the years to follow and finally normalized in 2014.

Commander-in-chief

The number of U.S. troops in Iraq peaked at the end of the second term of George Bush. This was because of the high number of insurgencies that happened in the region.

When Obama became the president, he has sworn to put an end to the wars in the Iraqi and Afghan region. The majority of the U.S. military troops are now out of the two countries.

However, Obama stated in a press conference that there will still be a significant number of troops that will be present in Afghanistan through the end of his last term.
