The Sales Rivalry Between GM and Ford

Even though General Motors is not anymore the world's largest automaker, it still is not fading away from the limelight as it aces the competition against Ford in some of the categories in answering the question of which is the better car manufacturer.

Here are the specs battle between the two rivals:

The Pickup Battle

The hottest story in the pickup category is this year's Ford F-150 as it features an aluminium body. It is a bold step for Ford to take up the risk and settle for a more expensive material for its truck bed.

However, the full-size pickups that Chevrolet offers in the market which is the Chevrolet Silverado and the GMC Sierra are sucking all of the sales from Ford's F-series pickups. This is costing Ford millions of dollars every day if the trend continues like this.

It is the first time that GM has taken the lead in the number of sales against Ford since 2009.

There are 47,052 Chevy Colorados and GMC Canyons that are sold to consumers in ratio to zero Ford Rangers. This gap in sales is growing larger through time.

This slowdown is caused by the great amount of time that Ford needs to switch to the aluminium material in its 2015 F-150. Forecast still shows that this will get back to normal levels once the transition process has been fully mastered by the production process.

It is then safe to assume that GM will have dominion over its greatest rival, Ford.

However, putting the guard of GM entirely down is also not recommended because once Ford's production process is polished, it will easily retake the lead.

This rivalry is made more interesting as Toyota is in a close encounter in joining the competition between these two American car manufacturers.
