Hyundai Pickup Will Launch in 2020

Hyundai's Santa Cruz concept model shocked the world in its debut in last year's Detroit auto show. Rumors are now circulating across media that the Korean automaker will create a pickup with a rugged and utilitarian styled theme to it.

The extravagantly shaped unique design was a head turner for car enthusiasts, making it an instant hit in the realm of concept car models.

Scott Grant, the COO of Hyundai Australia stated that the Santa Cruz is now being advanced to production.

Unfortunately, he also said that consumer should not expect this to be released before 2020.

This is because of the level of commitment that the Korean headquarters still needs to be worked on. Even though the demand for a mid-sized truck is slowly becoming the trend in Australia as well as other countries, they still need to do some careful evaluation on this bold step to make.

The Australian branch of Hyundai has pioneered in the creation of Hyundai's first ever pickup as it constitutes 16.5 percent of the domestic market. There are 100,000 pick units sold in early 2016.

Grant also made it clear that the pickup would take the form of the Santa Cruz concept, but would sport the look of being more "car-like". This would make it take the shape of an awkwardly designed pickup, but having the edge of a finer and sleeker vehicle.

However, the trend of sales of the Chevrolet Colorado should also be taken into consideration because it is considered as a staple for mot Australian households. This is also one of the factors why the release of the Hyundai pickup will be postponed to 2020.

The Santa Cruz concept unit is generally small, having seats for four people. It uses a 2.0-liter turbo diesel engine, having a horsepower of 190, and a torque of 300 lb/ft.

This is enough to sustain the needed standards of the average household market.
