'Top Gear' Returns With New Format, Line-Up; Eddie Jordan Thinks They Will Top Previous Show

"Top Gear" will be coming back this Sunday to the small screens and it has a new line-up including Chris Evans, Matt LeBlanc, Riley Reid, Sabine Schmidt, Christ Harris, Eddie Jordan and The Stig.

The gang replaced Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May in the past show and Jordan claimed that he believes the latest series will be much better than the past productions, Auto Blog reported.

Jordan shared in an interview with Mashable, "Yes we admire what they did, there's no question about that. The previous show was brilliant. But I think this will be a surprise for you guys. When you actually see what we did in South Africa and all the other shows I've seen, we're going to be better."

Jordan pointed out that they want to be better than the other guys. This does not come as a surprise as Jordan is the one who started his own Formula 1 team back in 1991. The team ran for years until 2005.

Automotive News also reported that the new line-up was made after Clarkson was dropped by the BBC last year after he hit and verbally abused a producer. Clarkson and his two former co-presenters are now working on a new car show for the network Amazon.

Evans also released a statement during a video release regarding the new "Top Gear" saying that the long wait is over and that the viewers will be able to see amazing cars that will be in "exotic, exciting, and bizarre locations."

The Daily Star reported that "Top Gear" is known to be controversial over the years as it has offended many races such as Argentines, Mexicans and truck drivers. Just this March, Evans apologized for a car stunt that was filmed near the Cenotaph war memorial in London.

The stunt was criticized as many felt they did not respect the area. It is unclear if it will still be shown in one of the episodes of the upcoming season of "Top Gear."
