Ford has recently announced that they will be recalling approximately 271000 F-150 pickup vans to fix a fluid leak, which has been reducing braking power.
The recall will be covering one of the most - selling and most popular product of Ford, which has been produced in 2013 and 2014, according to Los Angeles Times. The Michigan based automaker announced that the master cylinder of the pickup vans need to be replaced to ensure the leakage of brake fluid does not influence the braking power.
Notably, the leakage of brake fluids only hinders the front brake in the recalled vehicles, according to Ford. However, the company mentioned that it was aware of the allegations made regarding the nine accidents, where no injuries were reported.
Meanwhile, Fox News has reported that the dealers will replace the master cylinder for free. Additionally, the brake booster will also be changed without any cost if it is found that there has been leaks from the master cylinder.
Ford mentioned that they are working with the suppliers to get the parts manufactured and will begin notifying the dealers and the affected car owners beginning July 11.
Although rumors suggest that Ford has made the recall following an investigation by the federal safety regulators, yet Ford has denied that. Notably, the investigation by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) for electric vacuum pump failures were closed earlier this month after Ford extended its warranty.
According to an official statement released by Ford, the company will be recalling 225,012 trucks sold in the US soil, 43,682 trucks sold in Canada, and 402 sold in Mexico. Incidentally, this is Ford's fourteenth recall this year for various issues. Previous recalls by the Michigan automaker include 2011 and 2012 F-150s for transmission issues and 2012 Mustangs, Navigators and Expeditions for transmission issues and airbag problems.
