Tesla fans will be happy to hear that the electric automaker's Model X crossover is getting an event for its launch, and it's only one week away.

Invitations for the event have been sent out for Tuesday, Sept. 29 at Tesla's factory in Fremont, Calif., according to Fortune.

The vehicle will be the company's third car, following the compact Roadster and the Model S, and aims to be its next big hit, CNET reported.

The Model X, first introduced in February 2012, has faced several delays over the past few months.

The release of invites follows after Tesla CEO Elon Musk revealed earlier this month on Twitter that his company planned on delivering the first Model Xs to its first customers in late September. The car comes with "falcon wing" rear doors, ventilated seats with cooling and heating mechanisms, air suspension and self-parking capabilities.

Tesla is expected to reveal details about the electric SUV's price and options at next weeks' event, The Verge reported. The company has already invited earl deposit-holders to check out a limited edition "Signature" model on a private site.

Production for the Model X is expected to increase in the fourth quarter of 2015, and Tesla plans on delivering 50,000 and 55,000 cars- including the Model X and Model S- by the end of the year, Fortune noted.

The Model X launch event will begin at 7 p.m. PT on Sept. 29, so Tesla fans will only have to wait about a week to get the rest of the details.
