The Next Rolls-Royce Convertible Will Be Called Dawn

May 13, 2015 04:30 PM EDT | Jeff Jablansky

The next convertible from Rolls-Royce will be called Dawn.

That's about as much as we know about it, despite having inquired several times.

Without a photo or much description, Rolls-Royce made the announcement late yesterday. If our sources are correct, the Dawn will likely be based on the Wraith/Ghost platform, and Rolls-Royce says to expect the Dawn to arrive in early 2016.

The naming convention departs from the "Drophead" moniker, which currently designates the convertible version of the Phantom. It refers, instead, to the extremely limited-run Silver Dawn produced from 1950 to 1954.

Awkwardly, the press release hints that the "early-day chill of dawn provides an erotic tingle on the skin, awakening the senses and passions as the day begins." Will the Dawn finally be the automotive equivalent of "Rochelle, Rochelle?"

Consider us particularly excited, as this is the second news item relating to a new model from Rolls-Royce in a fortnight.
