Dashcam: Chevrolet Camaro Caused New York Wreck While Passing on Shoulder

If you're debating purchasing a dashcam for your car here's a good reason why you should.

Footage from a dashcam was released this week on YouTube showing a nasty three-car crash caused by an alleged drunk driver cruising in a Camaro on I-90 in New York State.

Watch the video in horror below. If you want to just see the crash skip to about 2:19.

YouTube user Tim Linton was able to capture the entire March 21 incident while driving on the New York State Thruway in Batavia, NY, according to WGRZ. Linton, by his own admission, purchased his dashcam just a few days before the incident took place.

Somehow no one was hurt as a result of the crash, but that doesn't mean the driver got off scot-free.

Kiran Thapa, 32, was later charged for driving his black Camaro while intoxicated and, better yet, without a license.

Thapa supposedly had a blood alcohol content level of .19 percent at the time of the crash, which certainly explains why he attempted to pass someone on the shoulder.

Even though police would have had enough proof from the wreck site alone to charge Thapa, Linton's dashcam footage gave them sufficient evidence to figure out what happened exactly.

Yep, all thanks to a dashcam.
