Audi has announced that it is working with Amazon and DHL Express on a project aimed at testing the ability to deliver packages to your car.

The three companies will hold a pilot program in Europe that will have the e-commerce giant ship products to trunks of the German automaker's vehicles, according to USA Today.

With Connect, the car's onboard communications system, Audi owners signed up for Amazon Prime will be able to let DHL personnel deliver the items they ordered.

Audi said delivery drivers will track the customer's vehicle over a specific period of time and unlock the trunk with a digital access code, BBC News reported. The code will expire once the trunk is shut, providing DHL personnel one-time access to the vehicle.

"With comprehensive connectivity, we are transforming the car into a service device and integrating it even more closely into the everyday lives of our customers," Luca de Meo, board member of Audi AG, said in a statement announcing the program, USA Today reported. "Audi Connect Easy Delivery helps save time and offers more convenience and flexibility, advantages that are increasingly important for the target group of a premium brand."

The program will begin in May in Munich, and Audi said the project will eventually give drivers the ability to deliver packages from their cars.
