Infiniti Q60 Rumors: Will it Produce 400 HP?

Feb 17, 2015 08:00 AM EST | Matt Mercuro

One of the first vehicles that debuted at the Detroit Auto Show was the Infiniti Q60 concept. The vehicle was previewed during the 2014 Paris Auto Show and serves replacement for the current Q60 coupe.

While we know that under the hood is a 3.0-liter, twin-turbocharged V-6, originally shown in the Q80, we haven't been told what kind of horsepower to expect by the automaker.

A report by AutoGuide claims that the production Q60 will reach dealerships in 2016 and should pack at least 400 horsepower and a more powerful option will follow, citing a company representative who commented on the condition of anonymity to the publication during the Canadian International Auto Show in Toronto.

Ininiti hasn't confirmed those numbers yet but if the report is true then the car could be a popular option once it's ready to be released.

If the Q60 reaches at least 400 hp, it would put the heir to the G35/G37 line of coupes right in line with rival vehicles like the BMW M4 (425 hp) and the Lexus RC F (450 hp). It would still be less than the Q50 Eau Rouge however, which packs a 3.8-liter twin-turbocharged V6.

A second model is expected as well that will be a more performance focused version of the entry level option that will make as much as 450 hp, according to AutoGuide.

It will be awhile before the Q60 reaches dealerships as the new vehicle isn't expected to go on sale until at least 18 months from now, arriving sometime in late 2016.

Make sure to check back as we find out more about the Q60 and what car buyers can expect when this performance car.
