Looks like Elon Musk plans on giving Tesla fans a Christmas gift this week.
The Tesla CEO said on Friday that sometime this week the company will reveal details on its highly-anticipated upgrade Roadster. The vehicle was discontinued back in 2011 when the automaker increased exclusive production of the Model S at its lone assembly factory in Fremont, California.
Though it isn't clear what kind of improvements Roadster fans should expect yet, during an interview with Auto Express back in August Musk guaranteed to upgrade the car's battery, which would extend its range from 245 miles to 400 miles per charge.
"The Roadster has an old generation battery," he said to the publication. "We'll upgrade it to a new generation battery pack and it should have a range of about 400 miles, which will allow you to drive from LA to San Francisco non-stop."
Musk said on his Twitter account this week that an Austrian electric car enthusiast that a number of different issues delayed the upgrade.

Tesla spokeswoman Elizabeth Jarvis-Shean has confirmed that the update would be announced sometime this week, but an exact day has not been determined yet.
"We are planning on I think a fairly exciting upgrade to the Roadster," Musk said according to Autoblog over the summer. "I'm hoping we can get it done later this year. I did say it would be this year and... yes, we will get it done this year... So, we're going to do something cool with Roadster before the end of this year."
The official upgrade to the Roadster will take place sometime in 2015.
Tesla had had no shortage of issues since the summer. The EV maker was forced to push back the release of its third vehicle, the X SUV, due to production issues. Its stock has dropped as a result of cheap oil and investor sell-offs by companies like Daimler and Toyota.
In October, Michigan passed a law banning direct sales of Tesla, a regulation already in effect in New Jersey, Texas, Arizona and Maryland.
