The brand-new 2015 Dodge Challenger earned a five-star overall safety rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).
Five stars is the highest score given by the U.S. safety administration to a car.
"The new Dodge Challenger coupe further demonstrates our commitment to broaden the proliferation of advanced safety technologies, such as driver-assist features," says Scott Kunselman, Senior Vice President-Vehicle Safety and Regulatory, FCA-North America in a company statement.
NHTSA noted that the availability of Forward Collision Warning (FCW), which features forward-facing sensors designed to detect the chance of certain types of frontal collisions. If something is detected, the driver is told through visual and audible warnings.
The new Challenger is the only vehicle in its segment to offer that feature.
FCW features more than 70 other safety and security services, like Blind-Spot Monitoring and Rear Cross-Path Detection, according to the automaker.
The Challenger scored five stars in the front- and side-impact crash tests.
"The 2015 Challenger checks all the boxes," Kunselman added. "It affords premium safety and security in a stylish package that delivers a sporty driving experience."
Other standard safety equipment includes seven airbags, like a driver's knee airbag, traction control and antilock brakes.
The vehicle is available for purchase now for $26,995, not including tax, title and the destination fee.
Fiat Chrysler Automobiles announced earlier this month that the Challenger recorded its best-ever November sales total with 4,157 shipments. The news represents a 52-percent increase compared with the same month last year.
The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety has not rated the 2015 Challenger yet.
The 2015 Challenger competes for sales against vehicles like the Ford Mustang, Nissan 370Z and Chevrolet Camaro.
The 2015 Camaro earned a five-star rating as well from NHTSA. The new Mustang and Nissan 370Z haven't been tested yet.
Dodge's 2015 Challenger SRT Hellcat has also not been rated.
