Lincoln Reaches Exclusive Partnership With Speaker Maker Revel

The Lincoln Motor Company is trying its best to improve its luxury reputation in a number of different ways.

The automaker just introduced Black Label as its ultra-luxury trim package last month and now the company has reached an exclusive 10-year collaboration with Revel, which will add the premium loudspeaker brand to Lincoln vehicles.

The partnership will make automaker the only brand to offer Revel audio systems.

"The Lincoln collaboration with Revel is the next step in our commitment to build vehicles that exceed luxury expectations," said Matt VanDyke, global director, Lincoln, in a press statement. "Revel is synonymous with the finest home speaker systems, and it's that exceptional audio experience we want our Lincoln drivers to enjoy."

Revel's speakers will now be offered across all model lines. The speakers can run upwards of $20,000 apiece.

The Revel deal comes at a time when Lincoln is prepairing to launch its Black Label line, a customization and service program, at 32 dealerships in six states before the end of 2014 before expanding across the country in late 2015.

The first company vehicle to feature the Revel audio will be the redesigned 2016 Lincoln MKX crossover, which is set to reach dealerships sometime in 2015.

Until now, Lincoln has used THX as its luxury supplier. Revel, the high-end speaker brand of Harman International, will equip the next-generation MKX with a 13-speaker premium sound system and its 19-speaker Ultima setup.

Revel said its speaker systems will feature the same "Revel sound signature" that is a trademark of its home-audio speakers.

For Lincoln, the Revel design is centered on its QuantumLogic Surround effect which gets rid of the artificial elements of many surround-sound systems, according to the automaker.

MKX owners will have the chance to choose from three distinct effects: standard stereo, "audience" mode and an "onstage" mode, all of which were designed to make listeners feel they are on stage with their favorite artists.

The modes will be selected through Lincoln's MyLincoln Touch screen in the center dashboard.

The audio systems will be tailored for each specific Lincoln vehicle, including the design of the speaker grilles, according to the two companies.

While this may become a huge win for Lincoln down the road, other Harman brands can already be found in luxury vehicles like Harman/Kardon in BMW and Mark Levinson in Lexus.
