2018 Hyundai i20 Spy Photos Hinting A Major Surprise To Unfold Soon?

The 2018 Hyundai i20 has been spotted under heavy wraps. The camouflage hints on a major refresh on the next generation supermini.

The prototype of the new i20 has been spied with full camouflage. Car analysts predict a huge surprise is about to unfold when the new model comes out.

Looking at the front fascia, the grille peeping behind the camouflage appears to have a similar design from its sibling, the i30, but with some minor revisions. On the other hand, the fog lights seem to have been revised too, with a reduced size and now more integrated in the bumper.

The spotted mule could not confirm if the new i20 will sport an all-LED setup. Speculations say it will most likely come with an all-LED lighting system to compete with SEAT Ibiza and VW Polo.

From the back of the car, the most obvious change is the placement of the license plate. The next generation i20 now carries the plate on the tailgate, and no longer on the bumper. This redesign also hints on the alteration of design on the rear hatch and bumper of the upcoming model.

Furthermore, spy photos of the prototype gave a small peek on the new taillights. The new model now features various graphics on its taillights.

Meanwhile, the automaker is reportedly planning to introduce a smaller i20 light hatch with high-performance variant. This concept is yet to be unveiled in 2019.

According to Albert Biermann, Hyundai N's boss, the company is considering to produce another performance model that has a reduced size than the i30. He also explained that "There's a good market."

The new concept is reportedly be called the i20 N. It is expected to run with the brand's 1.6-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine, which also powers the i30 and Elantra. Speculations also predict that the new i20 N can produce about 200 hp.
